Murali Ramachandra, PhD

Prior to assuming the CEO responsibility, Murali was serving as Chief Scientific Officer at Aurigene.  Murali has extensive experience in running successful and innovative research and early development pipelines both at operational and strategic level.  He received his PhD from University of Idaho, USA and was a Postdoctoral fellow at DuPont Experimental Station and University of Kansas Medical Centre, Kansas City, USA. He has worked on various aspects of drug discovery at the National Institute of Health, USA and Schering-Plough, USA before joining Aurigene. He has co-authored more than 60 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is an inventor of 18 granted US patents. Murali has been in Aurigene since February 2005.

Chetan Pandit, PhD

Medicinal Chemistry

Chetan completed his BSc from St.Stephen’s College, Delhi and received his PhD from State University of New York, Buffalo. He has over 20 years of Medicinal Chemistry and Process research experience in the Industry, in India and Canada. He currently holds 10 patents, including one for a compound currently in Phase I/II clinical trials. Chetan has been in Aurigene since April 2007

Ashish Lath

Chief Finance Officer
Finance

Ashish is a Chartered Accountant (CA) with over 15 years of extensive experience across various finance, business planning and development functions. His earlier experience includes Deloitte & Mahindra and Mahindra. Prior to joining Aurigene, Ashish worked as CFO of Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles.

Susanta Samajdar, PhD

Senior Vice President & Head-Drug Discovery

Susanta received his PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), Kolkata and subsequently moved to MD Anderson Cancer Center for a Post-Doctoral training on anti-cancer drug discovery. He has over 10 years of synthetic and Medicinal Chemistry research experience in Indian Industries. Susanta has experience in leading multi-disciplinary drug discovery teams that successfully delivered several preclinical development candidates. He has experience in working with various target classes including GPCRs, Ion channels, Proteases, Kinases and NHRs, across different therapeutic areas like Oncology, Pain and Inflammation, Metabolic Disorders and Neurosciences. He has more than 20 publications and patents to his credit. He has been in Aurigene since March 2012

Dr. Shekar Chelur

Shekar is a board certified Toxicologist and Toxicologic Pathologist with over 15 years of research experience. He completed his graduate and post graduate studies in Veterinary Pathology from Bangalore Veterinary College. He has worked at Jai Research Foundation, Torrent Research Centre and Zydus Research Centre prior to joining Aurigene in 2004. He has experience in safety evaluation of NCE’s in the area of Metabolic Disorders, Cardiovascular diseases, Oncology, Pain, Inflammatory disorders, Immunomodulators and Musculoskeletal disorders. He is recipient of several merit scholarships including senior research fellowship from Indian Council of Agricultural Research. He is co-inventor of 3 international patents and author of 10 publications.

Sanjeev Giri, Ph.D

Sanjeev has over 15 years of experience in the field of drug discovery and clinical research. He has successfully led multidisciplinary teams including DMPK, Pharmaceutical development, and early development to support projects starting from Hit to IND/ Ph II clinical trials. Sanjeev has led, and contributed in success of several IND and ANDA applications of various therapeutic areas such as oncology, inflammation, metabolic disorder and anti-infective. His experience is spread across multiple Indian pharma & CROs including Cadila Pharmaceuticals, Reliance Clinical Research Services, and Jubilant Biosys where he worked in various branded generics and Drug Discovery research projects. Sanjeev received his Ph.D in Chemistry from Purvanchal University, India, and has co-authored over 20 research articles in peer-reviewed journals and one patent. Sanjeev joined Aurigene in March 2014, and heads the Early Development research.

Thomas Antony, PhD

Thomas received his PhD from University of Delhi and was a Postdoctoral fellow at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, USA, and Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Goettingen, Germany. He is a recipient of many research fellowships including UGC Junior and Senior Research Fellowships, Max Planck Fellowship and Alexander Von Humboldt Fellowship. Thomas has extensive drug discovery research experience in the areas of oncology, inflammation, metabolic disorders, and anti-infectives. He has co-authored more than 20 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is co-inventor of 3 international patents.
