Aurigene's medicinal chemistry capabilities cover Lead generation and Lead optimization chemistry including generation of compound libraries using parallel solid and solution phase synthesis.

Medicinal chemistry is equipped with specialized skills in organic synthesis of complex organic molecules including multi-step synthesis. The capabilities include natural scaffold synthesis, small peptide synthesis and chiral compounds.

Data from structural studies and feedback from computational chemists allows the medicinal chemists to generate compounds with significant potency and selectivity for specific target proteins.

Diversity Oriented Synthesis is employed to explore specific regions around a locus in the Chemistry Space, eg: a weakly binding scaffold or a pharmacophore generated from Structure Activity Relationships (SARs).

Medicinal Chemistry is supported by state-of-the-art Analytical facilities that include Varian 300 and 600 MHz NMR spectrometers, API 2000 and API 3000 LC MS/ MS systems, a battery of Analytical and Preparative HPLC systems, FTIR Spectrophotometer, Polarimeter, Fluorimeter etc.

Focused libraries targeted against Kinases, Proteases, Diesterases, GPCRs and NHRs have been developed using synthetic as well as natural product scaffolds. Aurigene has a collection of bioactive components of natural products.
